This super-sized weekend needed a super-sized episode, as Jeff & Jennifer marvel at the incredible action of John Wick 2 AND dive as deep as they can (without losing their minds) into the latest President Trump press conference.  What's worse:  A pencil in the ear from John Wick, or "alternative facts" in the ear from Donald Trump? We have a hard time deciding!

This weekend, we tell the stories of last week's crazy-bad kid-full weekend, including both an update to the tale of Jennifer's alcoholic mother AND a trip to the hospital that didn't involve Jennifer's alcoholic mother.  We also discuss new horror movie Rings (co-starring beloved former-Griswold Johnny Galecki), and then Jeff catches Jennifer up on some of the lower-points of the Trump administration since our last recording on Inauguration Night.

Fueled by despair, Jeff and Jennifer talk about the Donald Trump Presidential Inauguration.  As hard as it still is to believe that he's actually our President, it appears to be true... unless nothing is real at all, of course, in which case our biggest problem is that we're all living batteries for The Machines.  Doesn't that almost sound better?

We take a look at Trump's immediate tax increase for middle-class Americans, his impossibly-bad choices for his cabinet, and we brace ourselves for the world of Potential Grizzlies.

And yes, Jeff has since realized that what he meant to say was, "There is no spoon."

Early last year, Jennifer shared with us a long tale of growing with parents who are addicts.  This week, she shares some updates on her mom's continuing issues with addiction, how this affects the family, the "fun" of trying to get her mom the long-term medical assistance she needs, and what she thinks the next steps will be.

Some information about mental illness, addiction, and homelessness.

Also, as mentioned on the show, we recommend this funny-but-informative segment from Last Week Tonight w/ John Oliver on Opioids.

It's the December holiday season, and that means it's STAR WARS TIME!  This year, Disney has gifted us Rogue One, a Star Wars tale designed to thrill the detail-oriented super-nerd in all of us... or almost all of us.  Between Jeff and Jennifer, one of them loved this movie, while the other was underwhelmed.  Lots to discuss and debate, but one thing that no one can argue:

BEST

VADER

EVER!!!!

Jeff & Jennifer had a quiet, kid-free Thanksgiving, but did their best to ease the pain by dorking out on the Xbox (Rock Band; Skyrim), trying out Jackbox and the HTC Vive with some friends, and watching one of 2016's top-ranked scary movies:  Hush.

This week we are joined by author and ultra-movie-nerd Kevin Smokler! Mr. Smokler just released his new book, Brat Pack America: A Love Letter to 80s Teen Movies, and he generously agreed to sit down with us to talk about John Hughes films, other beloved 80s movies, modern 80s nostalgia, and the dark, awful truth behind Gremlins.

Brat Pack America is available at bookstores nationwide and Amazon in both paperback and Kindle formats.
Be sure to look Kevin up on Twitter, kevinsmokler.com, or sign up for his newsletter - he's got a lot of great stuff worth reading!

This week, Jeff & Jennifer take a break from pop-culture nonsense to talk about election nonsense.  Donald Trump beat Hillary Clinton in the 2016 White House race, and now Jeff is scared for every other race out there.  How did Trump win?  Are minorities and Muslims going to be OK?  They take on politics, economics, Black Lives Matter, and more!
